Burn Fat at Rest!

Burn Fat at Rest!!!

By Dr. Daniel Rocha, DN LMT CPT, CNS

This is a real thing, and you should be doing it well. But the problem is that most of us don't, mainly because it depends on what you eat and how you train. If you're eating carbohydrates consistently throughout the day, your body has a steady supply of sugar and won't burn stored fat.

Fat loss is a two-step process.

First, lipolysis releases fat into the bloodstream. This is primarily caused by low blood glucose or exercise.

Second, Beta Oxidation occurs in the mitochondria to produce ATP for fuel.

Train your body consistently and without restriction; you'll burn fat while resting and preserving muscle. This is often known as being "Fat Adapted" or metabolically flexible. This state produces Ketones to fuel your body and mind.

Several things will kill this process:

Inflammation, elevated estrogen, toxicity, high cortisol, high resting heart rate, high liver stress, and elevated blood glucose.

That list is long but manageable when you apply a few simple life hacks.

ACTION STEP:

The first thing that MUST be done is to remove the toxic burden in our lives.

  • Eat less sugar. Eat carbs around a workout if muscle gain is the goal.

  • What you eat matters as much as how much you eat.

  • Stop using plastic. (ALL of them: bottles, Tupperware, etc.)

  • Get a water filter that removes chlorine, pesticides, and estrogens from plastic in your water supply.

  • Eat more locally grown foods.

Sports massage and fat loss can be related in certain ways:

1. Sports Massage: Sports massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on treating and preventing injuries, enhancing athletic performance, and promoting overall recovery in athletes. It involves techniques such as deep tissue massage, stretching, and joint mobilization. Sports massage can provide several benefits for athletes, including improved circulation, reduced muscle tension, increased range of motion, and accelerated recovery.

2. Fat Loss: Fat loss refers to the process of reducing body fat through a combination of exercise, proper nutrition, and a healthy lifestyle.

Now, how can sports massage be related to fat loss?

1. Enhanced Recovery: Sports massage can help athletes recover faster from intense workouts or training sessions. Reducing muscle tension, improving circulation, and promoting relaxation can aid recovery. When you recover more effectively, you can engage in more frequent and intense workouts, which can contribute to increased calorie expenditure and fat loss.

2. Improved Performance: Sports massage can enhance athletic performance by increasing flexibility, range of motion, and muscle function. When your body moves more efficiently, you can engage in more intense exercise sessions, leading to higher calorie burn and potentially more significant fat loss.

3. Stress Reduction: Sports massage can help reduce stress and promote relaxation. High stress levels can contribute to weight gain and hinder fat loss efforts. By managing stress through massage, individuals may be less likely to engage in emotional eating or other unhealthy behaviors associated with stress, which can support fat loss goals.

Sports massage can complement a healthy lifestyle and exercise routine by being a supportive practice for fat loss. Let’s get in the best shape of your life. Let me show you how! Schedule a consult or treatment today.
