Changes

By Dr. Daniel Rocha, DN LMT, CPT CNS

Ahhh, the holidays begin, and thus, everything is changing like the seasons. Prayers to those who are on SNAP and wondering if there will be a deposit come November.  But change is a challenge, and challenges are good for you. Don’t loathe challenges, and don’t use them as reasons to sink into indifference. Highly successful individuals are compelled and invigorated by challenges!

The idea of being overwhelmed is often the result of not taking enough action to achieve enough wins. Success breeds more success, and losses increase your chances of further losses. To achieve your goals, you have to get to a place where every challenge becomes fuel for you.

Don’t get to a point where every new challenge you face automatically equals a loss in your mind. There are ways to rehabilitate yourself so that the hardships you’ve experienced throughout your life no longer prevent you from approaching new challenges with enthusiasm and excitement.

When you develop a more positive outlook, you begin to see a challenge as stimulation to engage rather than as an excuse to avoid something. You have to know that every challenge provides an opportunity to win! The more you succeed in life, the higher your potential will be, and the more you will grow to love challenges.

Love challenges and challenge yourself by improving your skill set today and every day.

One of our challenges as the new year approaches is that the holidays, which are filled with potlucks, sweets, goodies, and family get-togethers, lead to body fat accumulation, and exercise starts to slow down.

However, training the abdominal muscles is crucial during this time. The goal is not fat loss, but keeping the abdominal muscles trained. By the time Valentine’s Day comes, your waistline will be shedding fat quickly because those muscles are ready to be shown. So here is an easy routine to get your waist slim and trim. Do it first thing in the morning and before bed. Begin with one set, then work your way up to three as you get used to this.

Abdominals:

Crunches 50 reps

Obliques 20 reps each side

Leg Raises 50 reps

Cross Body – Elbow to Knee – 20 reps on each side

Superman’s lateral flex - 20 reps on each side

Superman’s leg raise - 20 reps

Plank - hold for 2 min

Let’s finish 2025 on a good note and face our challenges with optimism and faith! Having a lean abdominal waistline will be a bonus. Keep an eye out for Black Friday and holiday sales coming soon
