Look at this Cellulite?!

Look at this cellulite!!!

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is often described as "cottage cheese" or "orange peel." Cellulite is the dimpled, uneven appearance of skin typically found on the thighs, hips, buttocks, and abdomen. It results from the herniation of fat deposits into the connective tissue beneath the skin, leading to a characteristic rippled texture.

Role of Estrogen in Cellulite Formation

Estrogen, the primary female sex hormone, plays a significant role in the development and distribution of body fat, especially during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause. While estrogen does not directly cause cellulite, it influences several factors, such as fat distribution, connective tissue health, and skin elasticity, that contribute to its formation and visibility.

Estrogen promotes fat storage in specific areas such as the hips, thighs, and buttocks while affecting the synthesis and breakdown of collagen, a key component of connective tissue. Changes in collagen structure and density can weaken the septae (fibrous bands), making the fat herniation more visible. Estrogen influences blood vessel dilation and fluid retention, contributing to fluid accumulation and poor circulation, factors associated with cellulite development. Estrogen maintains skin elasticity and thickness. Declining estrogen levels, such as during menopause, can lead to thinner, less elastic skin, making cellulite more apparent.

Hormonal Fluctuations and Cellulite

Hormonal imbalances or fluctuations, such as those during pregnancy, menstrual cycles, or menopause, can exacerbate cellulite appearance due to their effects on fat distribution, collagen integrity, and fluid retention. Managing hormonal health through a balanced diet, regular exercise, and medical interventions can help reduce the appearance of cellulite.

While there is no known cure for cellulite, there are several things you can do to reduce its appearance.

1. Maintain a healthy diet: Eat a diet rich in fiber, fruits, and vegetables and low in fat and processed foods. This can help keep your body weight in check and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

2. Exercise regularly: Regular exercise can help tone your muscles and reduce the appearance of cellulite. Focus on exercises that target your thighs, hips, and buttocks, such as squats, lunges, and leg lifts. Please go check out my glute training articles on our website blog.

3. Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. This can help reduce the appearance of cellulite.

4. Massage: Massaging the affected area with cellulite cream or oil can help improve circulation and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

5. Consider medical treatments: Several treatments are available for cellulite, such as laser lipo therapy, radiofrequency therapy, and ultrasonic cavitation. Please send me your questions about these treatments. SyRoc CBM now offers body sculpting. Please inquire the next time you are in the club.

Dry brushing is a self-care practice that involves using a brush with stiff bristles to massage and exfoliate the skin. Scientific research is limited, but I have personally used dry brushing while I was competing and still do now.

Dry brushing removes dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, promoting a smoother and more radiant complexion. Dry brushing stimulates blood flow to the skin, which enhances circulation throughout the body. This increased circulation delivers oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells while aiding in the removal of toxins and metabolic waste. This stimulates the lymphatic system, which is crucial in immune function and waste removal. Regular dry brushing promotes lymphatic flow and facilitates the removal of toxins from the body.

While dry brushing cannot cure cellulite, it does improve its appearance. The exfoliation and increased blood flow plump and smooth the skin, reducing the visibility of cellulite.

Here is what I recommend to my patients and clients:

Before every shower, dry brush for a couple of minutes. While you get ready, roll out the hips, glutes, and legs before you dress.  Before hitting the gym, apply topical fat loss lotion, buns of steel. (Description below).  Use the vibration plate for 2-5 minutes before beginning your workout.

Upon waking, take 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in 4oz of warm water. Wait ten minutes, then have a coffee with 1 teaspoon of collagen and mushrooms.

Post training, have a yogurt, and during the day, eat more fruit, berries, melons, or papaya.

Lunch, drink a green tea with a teaspoon of sea moss

I have my training clients use the vibration plate for 3-5 minutes before they begin their training session or cardio.  The contraction of muscles will ignite hormone production, improving muscle mass and skin texture.

Benefits of Using a Vibration Plate

Vibration plates, also known as whole-body vibration (WBV) machines, have gained popularity for their potential health and fitness benefits. When used correctly, they can offer a variety of advantages:

Vibration stimulates muscle contractions rapidly, which increases muscle strength and endurance. It is especially beneficial for individuals recovering from injury or those with limited mobility. Vibration stimulates blood flow, improving circulation and oxygen delivery to tissues. Vibration training boosts metabolism and assists in calorie burning. The increased blood flow and muscle engagement improve skin tone and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

If you’re considering incorporating vibration training into your routine, inquire about vibration usage as well as applying any of the topical fat burners that are available at SyRoc CBM.  Let the management staff know you read the article and that Doc advised it before you train.
